How do I know if or when it’s time for counseling?
If you are looking around at options, have been thinking about it for a while, have family or friends encouraging you to check it out, it's probably time to engage. If you are ready to make some changes in your life but aren’t sure where or how to start, it’s time to engage. If you are feeling out of sorts, wondering why you aren’t more-happy, satisfied, productive, fulfilled, fill in the blank-, if you are noticing an increase in anxiety, stress, feeling overwhelmed and exhausted, it’s time. It doesn’t mean something is wrong with you, or you are not ok, whatever is happening that got you here is worth paying attention to.
How do I get started?
I start with a free, 15 minute phone call to hear about why you are seeking counseling at this time, tell you about my approach and give you a chance to ask questions to see if we might be a good fit. If we decide to move forward, I will send the intake paperwork to you electronically via my client portal. Where, when, how often and for how long?
I offer both in person and telehealth sessions and can mix it up as needed. (At least one benefit from living through a pandemic.) I prefer to meet face to face a few times initially but also understand if tele health is the best option for you. Getting started, it is best to meet weekly for at least three weeks. After this time, we can discuss what works for you moving forward based on your goals which will be outlined in the first few sessions and revisited as needed.
The length of time people engage in counseling varies. You might want skill building, to talk about stressors both current and past and time to work on goals and skills in between sessions. It really just depends on you and I'm open to discussing what works best for you and creating a schedule that benefits your needs at this time.
What is the cost and can I use my insurance?
Sessions are one hour at $160 per session. Through the client portal you can store a debit or credit card or HSA/Flex spending account card. The card on file will be charged after each session. I do not accept health insurance.

What if, after a few sessions, it’s not really a good fit or not what I need?
I understand that my approach and style will not resonate with everyone. You can feel free to let me know you want to look around or that you want to discontinue services. Therapists deal with this all the time and I truly want you to find the right person for you.
