Questions you might have about getting started:
How do I know if I need counseling? If you are looking around at options, have been thinking about it for a while, have family or friends encouraging you to check it out, it's probably time to engage.
How do I get started? I start with a free, 15 minute phone call to hear about why you are seeking counseling at this time, tell you about my approach and give you a chance to ask questions to see if we might be a good fit. If we decide to move forward, I will send the intake paperwork to you electronically via my client portal. You can reach out via the contact form on the website, email directly or leave me a voicemail.
Where, when, how often and for how long? I offer both in person and telehealth sessions and can mix it up as needed. I prefer to meet face to face at least a few times initially but also understand if tele health is the best option for you. Initially it is best to meet weekly for at least three weeks. After this time, we can discuss what works for you moving forward. The length of time people engage in counseling varies. You might need skills, to talk about stressors both current and past, time to work on goals in between sessions. It really just depends and I'm open to discussing what works best for you.
